This project is in response to the growing issue of youths’ early involvement in crime. In the UK, young people turn to crime due to substance abuse, easy access to weapons, peer pressure, lack of parental guidance, and lack of appropriate education and support services. Unfortunately, Camden is significantly affected by this, and there are no facilities to tackle this issue; early intervention is required to help stop children from becoming involved in crime by helping to address their unmet needs and vulnerabilities and promote positive outcomes. What pushed me to want to address this issue was the organization “Keeping Kids Off The Streets”, as one of their volunteers approached me and introduced me to the problem and expressed how the association he is volunteering for is concerned about the lack of facilities and actions taken in Camden Town.
As Roosevelt said, “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future” We have to help prepare our youth for the future, and this starts with giving them all the help necessary to express themselves, help them develop, and get them educated. That is the best way to help today’s youth: giving them a facility to train and spend their time building on themself rather than being in the streets and potentially pushing themselves to be in a bad situation. This is the first step towards their success and freedom from crime.
